My life had changed that day in May of 2011 when I got my new bioptic glasses.

I was born completely blind in 1969 luckily for me a doctor looked at me
and noticed I could not see and did experimental surgery. Since then I have
had a multitude of surgeries. I was told to enjoy what I have because I would
NEVER see any better, so I went on to live my life the best I could. I started
my own family and refused to consider myself a handicapped person. My
decision made me allowed me to make choices that were less than par. Kids
had to get to school events, sports, dance, movies, etc. I did not want to let
them know I was like this. One day I got pulled over. I asked why he pulled
me over and he said: “I just found out that all these years you have never had
a driver’s license”. I felt my life just made a drastic change for the worse.
Little did I know my life was about to change dramatically for the better.
The day before, my local optometrist read about Dr. Ross Cusic and the
possibility of being able to drive legally. I immediately called and made an
appointment with him. My life had changed that day in May of 2011 when I
got my new bioptic glasses. I jumped through all of the state’s qualification
and was cleared. I can now drive day and night legally.
A huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders because of Dr. Cusic. Also, I
am the first person in the state of Oregon with a bioptic motorcycle
endorsement.
These are the dreams that I was told would never happen.
Thank you Dr. Cusic -
