Telemicroscopes

Vision can decline due to several eye conditions and diseases, such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy, among others.

We know how impaired vision can negatively impact life. Our goal is to keep you as independent as possible with the help of low vision aids and glasses which work by maximizing your usable vision and provide you with the highest quality of life possible.

A telemicroscope is one such low vision aid that can help maximize usable vision.

What Is a Telemicroscope?

As the name suggests, a telemicroscope combines the functions of both telescope and microscope glasses.

Telescope glasses enable one to better see distant objects, such as a road sign while driving, and microscope glasses offer better up-close vision for tasks like reading the newspaper or a phone screen.

People who need magnification for near activities sometimes prefer a greater working distance than microscope lenses can provide.

Telemicroscopic glasses, in contrast to strong magnifying reading glasses, allow for a more comfortable working distance when reading, using the computer, doing hand work, cooking, playing cards, and other tasks. These glasses are available for either a single or both eyes.

Are Telemicroscopes For You?

Telemicroscopes are ideal for anyone with impaired vision wishing to perform tasks at a greater distance than spectacles or hand magnifiers with the same power.

If you want to read the newspaper, use a computer, watch TV, or do crafts with greater ease, speak with Dr. Ross Cusic about whether telemicroscope lenses are right for you.

Our Low Vision Optometrist Can Help

The first step in acquiring any low vision aid is to have a low vision consultation.

At Low Vision Center At Optical Images, we take the time to determine our patient’s goals and needs based on their lifestyle and vision, and then recommend the optimal low vision aids.

In order to attain the most precise prescription, we use the latest technology to measure the degree of visual loss. If eyeglasses are required, each lens will be customized to ensure that the patient receives glasses best suited for his or her unique needs.

The low vision consultation will also include assessment of the wide range of low vision aids now available, from hand-held magnifiers to computer-based devices. Together, we will ascertain which low vision aids are most suitable and will instruct you on how and when to use your device.

If you or a loved one have been told that nothing else can be done to see more clearly, visit Dr. Ross Cusic for a low vision consultation.

Low Vision Center At Optical Images serves patients from Seattle, Bellingham, Olympia, Vancouver, and throughout Washington.
